New Anthologies - Updates and Clarifications

UPDATES: It has been a week since I posted the guidelines to the two new anthologies. I have already started receiving submissions and plan on posting weekly updates on the submissions status. So here is the update for Week 1.

Cheer Up, Universe:

- Total submissions: 4
- Acceptance: 0
- Holds: 2
- Rejections: 2

Fun Times in Strange Lands:

- Total submissions: 2
- Acceptance: 1 (from Ted Kosmatka)
- Holds: 1
- Rejections: 0

CLARIFICATIONS: The first week of submissions has left an impression on me that perhaps I did not explain the themes of the anthologies properly. So here are some clarifications:

Cheer Up, Universe: Humor is good, but that is not the only thing I am seeking for this anthology. I primarily want stories that leave you feeling warm and fuzzy after reading them - stories with likeable characters and/or exhilarating events.

Fun Times in Strange Lands: There are no restrictions at all on the stories in terms of time, place, color, flavor, etc., as long as the stories are suitable for pre-teens and have a speculative element in them.

Does solving a mystery crime counts for "warm/fuzzy" feeling? I have a mystery fantasy that might fit the Cheer Up, Universe. Come to think of it, it might fit the other antho, except the protag is sixteen years old.

Thanks for the update! It's exciting for a first-timer like me to get an idea of what's going on behind the scenes.

You are welcome, Jessica.

(Anonymous): Cheer Up, Universe

The clarification really does help. I too had thought Cheer Up, Universe was for humor only and I don't do humor.

Patience, patience ... I'm working on it!

Mine comes with art, and it is taking me a while to get it in to a suitable electronic format!

Indeed, he is. Ted Kosmatka is one of the best new writers of SF.

You two are making me blush. :)

Congrats, Ahmed, on on your Starship Sofa sale. I really like that place. I've got a few stories in the pipeline there myself, so maybe we'll be in the same week.

Thanks. Starship Sofa is good and seems to have carved a real good niche for itself in a short time. It would be great if we did share a week there.
